Public Meeting: Wednesday, March 2, 2016.
There will be a walk-in presentation in the Parish Hall, from 7:30pm to 9:30pm, on Wednesday, March 2, 2016. Information will be available regarding the progress of the preparation of the Plan to date, and the steps needed to progress its validation by the community, via an externally monitored Referendum.
Until the Maldon District Council’s Local Development Plan (LDP) and associated Village Allocation (of statutory, non-urban, housing requirements) is published, there remains uncertainty regarding the evolution of our built environment.
Irrespective, with our two settlement boundaries (the “village envelope”) virtually at capacity, your council needs to be aware of the community’s preferences regarding new build in the Parish. This is your opportunity to express your view, and have an input into what will be a Statutory planning document, which has to be considered by both MDC and potential developers.
We are advised that a budget of around £10,000 appears average for a small parish, of which up to £8,000 can derive from government sources. The modest net cost to the community appears fully justified by the potential benefits.
Your Steering Group is still embryonic and Althorne Parish Council, as the responsible body, would welcome increased parishioner representation, as a Steering Group member, or with offers of support for specific projects.
