In an attempt to tidy up Ardleigh Cemetery, the Parish Council have recently carried out a survey of the grounds and have found numerous overgrown trees, shrubs and heathers requiring attention.
One of the cemetery regulations is that “No trees or shrubs shall be allowed on or near the graves in any part of the cemetery.”
Over the past few months, the Parish Council has done everything possible to identify those responsible for the upkeep of the graves where there is a problem, to enable the work to be carried out by the family. The Parish Council now intend to exercise their right to remove these inappropriate trees, shrubs and heathers and will be seeking to carry out the work later in the year.
The Parish Council hopes that this action will assist in the maintenance of the grounds whilst maintaining the character of the cemetery.
