Dengie Dart Bus

Degie Dart service was launched by MP John Whittingday, Member of Parliament for Maldon on Friday, 18th May 2011.

Arrows Taxis, Maldon working in partnership with Essex County Council and the Rural Community Council of Essex are launching the new Dengie DaRT service, a new Demand Responsive Transport (DRT) scheme providing direct access to Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford from Maldon and Dengie areas.

The Scheme offers a fixed link between Maldon and Broomfield hospital plus a demand responsive service to Dengie, Asheldam , Maylandsea, Althorne, Stow Maries, Cold Norton, Latchingdon, Mundon, Purleigh.  The operation will be timed to fit in with core markets, serving Broomfield Hospital for appointments, visitors and staff. Services will operate between 06:00 and 21:00 on Mondays to Fridays.  The scheme is designed to become commercial and is aimed at demonstrating that DRT can be a sustainable solution to providing access in rural areas in the right circumstances.

 

The service has two parts

Fixed part betweenBroomfieldHospital and Maldon St Peter’s and runs like a regular bus betweenBroomfieldHospital and Maldon Town Centre.

Booked part where the service is a booked in advance to leave from any address in the area. You should book for your journey no later than 90 minutes before travel if you live in the Dengie area. The need for this service was identified through the Survey of Rural Services in 2008 and through the Maldon Accessibility and Safer Communities LSP Working Group.
