The Aims of the Hall Committee

We are trying to put more things on in the village to suit all ages and we are soon going to plan for 2007. We are a new committee but realise that a lot of money is required to keep the village hall in good repair. The Back wall of the building needs damp coursing and the exterior needs decorating. We must also start looking to the state of the roof. Repaired over ten years ago it could soon require some attention, as a committee we will be be trying to source out grants but these have to be matched fully or partly by hall funds.  The hall is now being used more and is there to be used for family parties etc. contact Graham 788025 .

We are trying different things but if any one has an idea of what might be popular in the hall please let any committee member know, suggestions for functions etc. always welcome.

Parish Council

The village survey has been circulated seeking views as to future plans for the village.  Several helpful returns have been received, but it has been agreed to extend the time for returns for a further two weeks to 20th October to enable as many as possible to participate.  These will then be considered at the next meeting to decide how to take the proposals forward.  The survey form is also on the Ashen Parish Council website (www.essex.info.net/ashenparishcouncil) for those who prefer to respond electronically.  A neighbourhood watch scheme is being established in the village – please let Lorna know if you wish to be involved.

The waver is due to be tidied up in the near future.  Steps are in hand to deal with the badger set in Hollow Road.

The next meeting is on 4th November at 10-30 am, when as usual there will be the opportunity for questions at the beginning of the meeting.  A file is kept in the village hall of recent documents including the latest minutes.  These are also available on the website.  We would particularly welcome any contributions for inclusion on the website – please contact the Clerk (Mrs Karen Melville-Ross) or the Chairman (Robin Purchas) if you have anything to be included.
