Belchamp Walter is a small village in North Essex, close to the Essex - Suffolk border.

Belchamp Walter is approximately 5 km/ 3.1 miles from Sudbury, Suffolk and is in the Braintree District. It is also in the parliamentary constituency of Braintree.

 Belchamp Walter is close to the Stour valley and Belchamp Brook is a tributary of the Stour joining the river near Sudbury and south of historic Long Melford, Suffolk.

The church of St. Mary the Virgin, has medieval wall paintings that are some of the only remaining examples in England.
