Soap Box Derby
The above photo shows Andy Maddocks, Mike Sinclair and Malcolm Acors reviewing the design entries for the Soapbox Derby competition on May Bank Holiday
The two Senior schools involved were Mayflower School and The Billericay School. The Billericay School put in two entries, one for Year 10 and the other for Year 12.
The entry design submitted by Mayflower School was considered the best. They will be awarded the prize for their design of £250 towards the cost of building the soap box and the £55 entry fee. The Reading Rooms also paid one entry fee for Billericay.
Photo of the students involved and the soapbox will be added to this website once the soapbox is completed.
The new Logo for The Reading Rooms was the result of a project undertaken by pupils from Buttsbury, Quilters, St. John's and St. Peter's schools which saw 22 proposals submitted for consideration. The Buttsbury Junior School version, jointly submitted by Aimee Phillips, Imogen Nichols and Tom Dodd, was used as the basis for the finally agreed logo. The school was awarded a gift token by the Reading Rooms Trustees to the value of £100 and each of the three contributing pupils received £10 vouchers .
