The Reading Rooms are looking for an enthusiastic individual, with drive and energy, to undertake the role of Deputy Letting Officer. The lettings are a vitally important part of the Charity, which has been in existence since 1864 and continues to provide a well run venue for the people of Billericay and the local district. 

What would you be doing?

Assisting our Letting Officer in meeting prospective hirers, dealing with the necessary paperwork, keeping the diary, and dealing with the day-to-day email messages and bookings.

We are looking for a committed individual who is eager to share their knowledge, time and expertise. As a Trustee of The Reading Rooms, you will be involved in the decisions that will impact the visitors, our community and the people who hire the Rooms, and in supporting the strategic goals and development of the Charity, always respecting its confidentiality, You will have the opportunity to engage in project work and working parties, if and when the need arises.

Trustees usually commit to serving a term of three years, which can be renewed. The Charity meets in the evening, in alternate months, a maximum of 6 times a year, with the meetings lasting between 2 and 3 hours.

This is a Voluntary position and all volunteers are appointed on an equal opportunities basis. The current members of the Committee are all members of the local community who are keen to ensure the continuing availablitiy of this facility for the people of Billericay..
