From:  Amey, working on behalf of Highways England

Maintenance works on the A120 and A12

We have previously written to you detailing how we will soon be delivering essential maintenance on behalf of Highways England.  From Monday 9 January until May, we will be renewing various sections of the A120 and the A12 that are coming to the end of their serviceable life.

Full details are in the accompanying annex, and we will continue to update you as the work progresses.

How our work may impact you in January

We will need lighting to work overnight, and the noise may cause some inconvenience for you. We apologise in anticipation of this, and will endeavour to minimise disruption.

Closures to A120 and access to premises

We will be resurfacing between Marks Farm and Marks Tey between January and May. This will involve a series of full closures overnight but these will be in short sections.

  • In early January, there will be a series of ad-hoc overnight closures between Monday and Friday in Bradwell, Coggershall and Marks Tey – these works will not take place simultaneously. During the last fortnight, work will be predominately in Marks Tey.
  • In addition, there will be temporary traffic lights between Marks Farm and Marks Tey at night.

Only those needing access will be able to travel between Marks Farm and Marks Tey. All other drivers must follow the diversion route.

Requesting access

  • To access your premises, slowly approach the operative at the edge of the closure and explain your destination. You will then be escorted to your premises.
  • To leave your premises, please call our site supervisor on 07979 705633 andwe will arrange for an operative to escort you.

Please drive slowly and carefully, obeying the operative’s instructions at all times.

There are numerous operatives working at the closures points but please be patient as there will be a number of people waiting to be escorted. It is important that you wait for our escort to take you through the closure and do not proceed alone. This procedure is to ensure both your safety and that of our workforce, and ignoring it will put all involved at risk.

Keeping you informed

Our programme of work can change suddenly depending on the weather and other factors. For the latest, most up-to-date information on diversions and roadworks, please sign up to our fortnightly bulletin. Simply e-mail A120-A12.Communications@interserveps.com and request to be added to the subscriber list.

We will endeavour to inform affected stakeholders, including businesses, councils, and nearby residents, of our work and its impact. However, we would appreciate any support you can offer to help inform your residents, staff and parishioners, such as publicising the disruption to your parishioners through newsletters and other communications.

We will do our utmost to complete the works as quickly as possible, avoiding disturbance and keeping noise to a minimum.

If you have any enquiries please contact the Highways England Customer Contact Centre on 0300 123 5000, or by e-mail to info@highwaysengland.co.uk.
