Starting in Febuary the Essex Youth and Education Service with tutor Phil Pucik will triming and weaving the willow dome as part of a BTEC course in land managment .

From the start of next week (24th August ) the Environment Agency will be cutting the water reeds in the river at Brockwell Meadows

We have had to fell two mature willow trees in recent weeks, one had become very dangerous due to a lightning strike the other had split badly and was unsafe due to its trunk rotting away inside,

much is being left to supply the many insects that feed on rotting wood, some had to be removed to clear the river path and the open area.

Happily much of the fallen timber has been donated to Colchester Zoo for animal enrichment.

Saddly a further willow, in the wooded walk, has shed a limb, to balance the tree we have had to reduce the weight of the crown. A neighbouring tree will also have to be treated in this way over the next few months.
