I came to painting when I retired although I had often drawn on holiday I just never had time whilst running a busy business, as well as teaching and bringing up a family.  I loved it from the start and still do but even now do not have as much time as I would like as I also design and make most of my own clothes. I do a lot of cooking and baking for family and guests. I belong to Ash Valley Quilters and often create quilted and textured jackets etc. which by their very nature are another form of art and very time consuming. I teach Crewel Embroidery two days a month in the winter to a group of ladies I have known for some time.  I go to look after my two youngest grandchildren once a week aged 5 and 3 and several times a year go to visit my other 3 aged 21, 19 and 15 in Taunton, Somerset.

I am Group leader for 4 local WI's and arrange outings for this group as well as attending their monthly meetings as often as possible in order to keep in touch with the members. I go on courses at Denman, the WI college in Oxfordshire sometimes both for various Art and Needlework related subjects. I keep 9 chickens and my husband and I have 5 beehives.  So all in all I am extreemly busy.
I do sell paintings at various exhibitions locally from time to time and am pleased to know that others are getting pleasure from my work. Currently, I am exploring portraiture a little more as both people and animals interest me as subjects as well as the natural world. I love working in pastels and oils but am happy to try my hand at Acrylic, Watercolour and various pencils and pens.
