Following retirement at 52 in 2002, Tony has had the privilege of being both a County & District Councillor.
Prior to retirement a major UK Insurance Company employed Tony as a specialist Technical Services Manager. Originally having trained as a fixed fire protection engineer Tony went on to become the Chief Sprinkler Surveyor at Commercial Union and he has served on a number of ABI panels and Loss Prevention Committees responsible for developing the rules for fixed fire protection in the UK.
Tony and his wife Christine have been Billericay residents for most of their 38 years of married life and both of their grown up daughters were born and brought up in the town. Elder daughter Stephanie gave birth to our first grand daughter, Charlotte on the 1st April 2007, very tax efficient! and our second Aimee on the 30th April 2008, and just to make sure she stays busy Stephanie stood for election in Worthing on the 1st of May 2008, unfortunately she lost but then returned part time to University to complete a second degree. In May 2009 she stood for Adur District Council and was elected, her result was declared as mine was being announced in Basildon, she has hopes of becoming an MP. Her sister Victoria makes a great auntie but seems not to have inherited any interest in politics! Vicky works in the City designing web sites and E-trading. Vicky also completed the 10k run at Hylands Park, in memory of her uncle John who died in the autumn of 2009 we are all very proud of her the money she raised went to the Farleigh Hospice.
Billericay is a great family town, it has so much to offer, a pleasant environment close to the country, quality housing, good access to London, good schools, a vibrant high street that despite changes retains a great deal of charm and character.
