Roy Teed 80th Birthday celebration

Congratulations to Roy Teed who celebrates his eightieth birthday in May 2008. Roy was a student at the Royal Academy of Music where he studied composition with Sir Lennox Berkeley. Roy later returned to the R.A.M where he taught from 1966-1992. Of his birthday he writes:

"There will be celebrations - notably: on May 21st a recital by the tenor Gordon Pullin with pianist John Cooper in Lion Walk Church will include songs by me together with songs by Ralph Vaughan Williams, the great British composer who died fifty years ago in 1958.

On Sunday 22 June Beth Spendlove (violin) and Nigel Clayton give a recital at the same venue. Their programme will include the first performance of a Sonata for Violin and Piano which is dedicated to this duo and composed  especially for them."

Roy's Aubade for viola and piano will be performed by Rose Redgrave (viola) and Huw Watkins (piano), members of Gemini, the ensemble who will be playing at this year's New Music Day at Colchester Institute on Wednesday 14 May 2008.

Roy is married to Jennifer and they have a son, Paul, and two daughters, Lucy and Trudy. He is very grateful to family and friends for all the love and support he has received over the years.
