Doddinghurst Village Hall
Doddinghurst Village Hall has its own newly designed web page to make booking easier. Please find the web address listed under our links section above.
Essex County Council are changing their approach to the information drop ins at libraries about the future library services consultation. They are now offering a week at each library during which people can drop in any time it is open to ask questions and find out what the strategy is about. Once they’ve done so, if they want help to access the survey, library staff can provide it.
Please note that the purpose of the drop-ins is to provide information, not to gather feedback. They are asking everybody to respond to the consultation via the survey, preferably online, as this is the most efficient and accurate way to ensure their views are recorded and heard.
The new drop-in times are now available at http://libraries.essex.gov.uk/libraries-consultation/information-drop-ins/

Essex Energy Switch - Save money on your fuel bills.
Essex County Council are inviting the residents of Doddinghurst to register their interest in using the energy switching scheme, with NO obligation to take up the offer after signing up. A one day auction is held and energy companies compete against each other to offer their best tariffs. Every resident registered will receive a personalised offer, detailing how much they could save.
Essex residents have already saved over £2 million on their energy bills by switching! There is a real possibility you could make significant savings particularly if you have been with the same energy supplier for a few years.
Visit www.essex.gov.uk/energyswitch and complete the online form. Alternatively you can call the iChoosr Switching helpline on 0800 048 8285. Lines are open Monday to Friday 8am - 5.30pm, or go to the iChoosr website: www.ichoosr.co.uk
Footpaths / Public Rights of Way in the VIllage .
Regular walkers will have observed a CA 17 notice posted by ECC relating to a number of fields in and around the village. These notices advise you that the landowner has regiserted a CA16 applications for deposits under section 31(6) of the Highways Act 1980 with Essex County Council that will result in ancient footpath rights (not footpaths on the ECC definitive map) being extinguished on the land areas detailed in the notice.. If you are (or were, as som pathways have been closed already) a regular user and believe the footpaths should be retained you need to contact the Parish Council without delay.
Essex County Council is holding a consultation on the future of the mobile library service in the County. The existing fleet is aging and in need of replacement and the County is considering alternative ways of providing a service to the community. The statistics for the service that visits Doddinghurst do no look too bad in terms of the numbers of users and Doddinghurst meet the servive criteria for the distance of the village from a conventional library. The consultation period has now closed, but for more information see: http://libraries.essex.gov.uk/media/537371/ds17_5812_mobile_library_consultation_a4_12pp_booklet.pdf
This is a crime that is on the increase. A hotline has been set up to report fly tipping and if it is witnessed make a note of the date and time and if possible the registration number of the vehicle plus, if it can be done safely, a photo. These are all a real help in getting the perpetrators prosecuted. The Environment Agency hotline is 0800 807060 and is 24/7
