The Essex Association received the following details from the Essex Enviroment Trust, of an important chance for their members to obtain funding for their community
To all Parish & Town Clerks
Essex Environment Trust
COMMUNITY ENTERPRISE CHALLENGE
You must have heard of the incredible competition being run by the Essex Environment Trust, which is open to all rural parishes with the chance of winning £100,000 towards that really special local project.
Time is now running out for entries in this important first round of submissions, the deadline for which is 1st December 2008. Not long now!
Three prizes are on offer for 3 sizes of project:
- Large Projects: £100,000
- Medium Projects: £50,000
- Smaller Projects: £25,000
Essentially the Trust wants to see local initiatives -new ideas that will satisfy an established local need -something wanted and supported by the local community and with their involvement.
Projects for new village halls, or major upgrading and/or extensions to existing ones as well as projects addressing the undisputed need for more facilities for youth. New Youth Centres either as stand-alone buildings or incorporated in village halls or community centre would be welcome. Outreach work by churches wishing to provide new community centres will also be welcome.
In "TV speak" terms, The Trust is looking for projects with an obvious Wow Factor!
As a Trustee said recently, "The local community knows better than us what the local needs are and we expect to receive projects of a wide variety of types, however, the essential need that we will be looking for is the project will make a difference in that local community."
Don't miss this golden opportunity!
See the Trust's website, News section - www.essexenvironmenttrust.org.uk for more details or for a competition entry form e-mail me on keith@essexenvironmenttrust.org.uk or phone me on 01245 265555. Don't leave it too late!
