NALC
NALC Annual Conference & Exhibition
4 - 5 September 2009
"Putting People First"
The National Association of Local Councils annual conference and exhibition is being held on the 4 & 5 September 2009 at the Royal College of Physicians, London.
This year, NALC will be helping local councils (parish and town councils) to action even better ways to make a difference in the lives of people and communities.
The conference will show how local councils can be at the heart of positive change through community involvement and wellbeing. There are a number of big issues facing local councils in the coming 12 months. And they all have one thing in common – that local councils hold the answers and can deliver the solutions to improving the lives of local people.
These issues include:
• Recession and the economic downturn
• Planning and transport
• Housing
• Climate change
• Power of wellbeing
• Engaging with your communities and participatory budgeting
• Community governance
• Training and development
Around 300 delegates will have the opportunity to hear from key speakers in a variety of plenary, satellite, workshop and skills schools sessions. Importantly, delegates will be able to exchange ideas, put questions, and really have their voices heard throughout all these sessions. Furthermore, for the first time at a NALC Annual Conference and Exhibition, there will be a Big Debate, where delegates can also really get their opinions across.
There is also a large exhibition of over 30 stands, which sees important players in the local government community brought together under one roof.
Please note: The NALC Conference and Exhibition will be held on Friday 4 and Saturday 5 September at Royal College of Physicians, London and will be preceded by a meeting of the NALC Annual General Meeting on Friday 4 September from 11am. At the AGM only registered representatives can vote, details will be sent under separate cover to those representatives.
