Training

Training is an integral part of the successful and innovative parish and town council. It shows a commitment on the part of the members and staff of a parish/town council to the professionalism of that council.
The Essex Association of Local Councils is proud of its long and successful record in training of Clerks, Chairmen, Councillors, and other officers.
We deliver courses drawn up by the National Training Strategy (NTS), locally drawn up bespoke courses, workshops, and conferences on a wide variety of topics aimed at meeting the needs of the members. We believe that it is important for the parish and town council tier that training should be undertaken in a variety of forms, interactive, facilitative.
The range of courses we deliver can be viewed on the Courses and Dates link below, if a particular course is not listed please contact the office as the EALC also run Short Courses tailored to meet the needs of an individual Council.
We do not underestimate the value of networking between councils at our courses, we can all learn new ways of getting involved and helping our communities.
We provide training on how to undertake the Certificate in Local Council Administration (CiLCA), encouraging Clerks to progress their knowledge under Continuous Professional Development (CPD) through to a Degree in Community Engagement and Governance at the University of Gloucestershire. For further information on CiLCA and the University of Gloucestershire training please follow the links.
Essex frequently resides in the top three County Associations in terms of number of CiLCA passes and Quality Parish Councils.
