15/8 Theatre Company was set up in 2002 with the launch of it's One Act New Play Competition which showcased three plays by local writers all performed by local actors at the Palace Theatre Westcliff. 15/8 also took one of these plays to the Edinburgh Fringe festival.

Whereas we hope to revise the play festival in the near future, hopefully with the revival of the Palce Theatre, we are currently concentrating on our Drama in Your School Hall initiative which aims to highlight the work we do to local schools. We offer a range of activites for infants, juniors and senior schools our latest project being We Live Here Too! a forum theatre type performance about graffiti, respect and citzenship for year 6&7.

We believe drama is a great way to boast creativity and confidence. It enhances many acdemic areas of school life such as literacy and helps develop teamwork and socil skills.

During August we are running some drama activities especially for those aged 7-11 and 12-16 in preperation for the start of our new drama clubs in September.

We are also running our detective workshop The Missing Trophy for 7-11 year olds were budding detectives will get to help DCI Sawyer and DI Bookum examine evidence and gather clues in orde to solve the case.

For the younger ones in December we are performing our interactive storytelling pantomime Guard of Honour.

Must of our work, apart from the work in schools, takes place at The Salvation Army Hall, Frobisher Way, Shoeburyness and we hope to continue this arrangement as long as possible.

All our staff are professional equity actors who have vast experience of working with young people and all are fully CRB checked.

We try to encourage pre-booking for our events as space is sometimes limited and numbers restricted.
