THEATRE IN EDUCATION
WORKSHOPS FOR GROUPS & SCHOOLSRhythm & Movement Workshop
This single workshop is suitable for individual classes, of infants or juniors, and explores rhythm through the use of percussion instruments and develops vocal skills through group singing and simple verse speaking. Text will be expressed physically to explore the power of words and to help emphasis meaning. Poetry will be looked at and a story using created sound effects will be performed.
Detective Event
A fully participative event involving three performers who present the case and help as participants examine clues and gather evidence to help determine the culprit. The sessions also include two especially adapted observation rounds and finish with a friendly game of wink murder. These events are specifically aimed at 7-11 year olds in 5 teams with a maximum of 30 and are great for developing teamwork, deduction and observation skills. We have a variety of cases available lasting one and a ½ hours.
Drama Sessions
Including devising and creating work of their own these sessions are great for developing language and communication skills. Different drama techniques will be explored and games played to build teamwork and confidence.
Shakespeare Classes
For the older students of English or Drama. Sessions can be based around a specified text or can be based more boardly on Shakespeares' language and Elizabethan Theatre. Various techniques, including voice and movement will be utalised to explore text and fully bring it to life.
Stanislavski & Brecht
Workshops are avaliable on these two drama practitioners. Especially suited for students of drama and theatre studies we will thoroughly explore, through practical exercises, the techniques of alienation and the Method. We will devise a piece using Brechtian devises, such as freeze frame and direct address and go into character work and text analisis Stanislavski style. This workshops will not only help with their knowledge and understanding of Brecht and Stanislavski but add to their acting ability.
We could even set up an after school drama club in your very own school hall!
