Village Envelopes

Last year Braintree District Council consulted the Parish Council about the Village Envelopes. The District Council accepted the Envelopes agree between the PC and District Officers. Two land owners have put in new applications to change the agreed boundaries.

One wishes to merge the Gestingthorpe and Audley End Village Envelopes and the other wants to extend the Audley End Envelope to include Rectory Farm.

Oates Volunteers

As a lasting memorial to Captain Oates,Terry (460953) and Wendy (469049) are collecting names of volunteers who can help villagers in emergencies.

New 400 000 volt Pylon Line success

Following local representation, National Grid are now to underground the new 400 kV line where it crosses the Stour Valley and continue it to eliminate the Twinstead T junction and crossing.

The new proposed cable sealing end compound will be located to the west of Alphamstone, near pylon 4YLA004 at Henny Back Road, as suggeste by Gestingthorpe Parish Council.

Selecting the southern site means that more than a kilometre of existing overhead line and three pylons can be taken down in the Stour Valley.  This is in addition to the removal of the lower voltage overhead line which runs between Twinstead Tee and Bramford.

Next Steps

As the existing 132 kV line across the Stour, which serves our area, will be removed. The next step is to agree a replacement supply.

National Grid's plan is to put a large tranfromer and switching station somewhere between Twinstead and Castle Hedingham. It could be in Gestingthorpe or close to the Gestingthorpe border. Some representations have already been made and detailed consultations started with an exhibition in Gestingthorpe on the 21st  February. Comment has to be made by the 17th of April
