GESTINGTHORPE PARISH COUNCIL    News May 2018

NEW COUNCILLORS
Two new Parish Councillors have been co-opted onto the Council - Peter Collett and David Smith.

DOG MESS
At the Annual Village meeting, residents raised the problem of dog mess along footpaths.
Please would dog owners remove their dog’s mess from footpaths and public open spaces.
Please either take it home or put it in one of the 4 ‘dog bins’ located in the village. These are emptied regularly by Braintree District Council.
Please not leave any dog mess in bags on verges or hanging in hedges. Please help to keep the footpaths clean.

LITTER PICK
The Parish Council are organising a Village Litter pick on Saturday 14th July. Meet at 10.00 am outside the Church/Village Hall. The Village Hall will be open for refreshments afterwards. Please would anyone interested in helping, contact David Smith of Church Farmhouse on 01787 460236.
Braintree DC provides sacks, litter picking tongs and high visibility jackets. Please would anyone interested in helping, contact David Smith of Church Farmhouse on 01787 460236 at least a week in advance, so that he can advise BDC how many sets of kit are needed. Please help to keep the village litter free.

CHANNEL SWEEPING (Road sweeping)
The next channel sweep is on Thursday 5th July. Residents are encouraged to park off-road on this date, so that Braintree District Council sweepers have clear access to the road channels.
The sweeper has a programmed route concentrating on main highways where there are kerbs. If there are any areas that require particular attention, please call BDC Customer Services Centre on 01376 552 525 or e-mail csc@braintree.gov.uk at least one week in advance of the due visit.
