Gibson Women's Institute are part of the largest voluntary organisation for women in the UK. We currently have approximately 55 members who meet on the first Thursday of each month in the United Reformed Church Hall on Abbey Lane in Saffron Walden. Our meetings start at 7.45 pm and usually conclude around 10.00 pm.
Each month we have a guest speaker who will give a talk lasting approximately 45 minutes. The subject matter of this year's speakers range from A History of Tea Towels (January meeting) to The Alexander Technique (August meeting).
The members also enjoy parties in the summer and at Christmas time and coach trips to places of interest.
Gibson Women's Institute like to support the community and give assistance to other small local charities when required (serving refreshments at their events), we also bake cakes and knit for the local hospitals. There is a small knitting group who meet throughout the year.
If you would like to make new friends with ladies who live locally and have the same values as you do, you will be made very welcome at any of our monthly meetings. There is a small charge for visitors to attend a meeting - £2.00 per meeting.
If you would like any further information on our group please do not hesitate to telephone Sonia Williams on Saffron Walden (01799) 526578.
