Village Information

EASTERN AGGREGATES, New Pastures Lane - Should any resident have cause to make a complaint concerning burning or noise from the above site, please make contact with the Environmental Services at Braintree District Council on 01376 551414 ext.2225.  If issues are formally reported to BDC it will allow appropriate investigations to be undertaken.

DOGS & FOOTPATHS - It would be really appreciated by dog-owning and non-dog-owning walkers in the Salings, if dog owners took a bit more responsibility and ensured that their dogs DID NOT foul the footpaths.  Please clear up after your dog - Braintree District Council can prosecute owners who do not!

COMMUNITY FIRST RESPONDERS - The group covering the Salings and Bardfield areas went operational on 24th October 2005.  This is a group of volunteers who have had specialist training to assist and support the Essex Ambulance Service.

For further information, contact: Julian Dyer on 01376 349054 or 07768 124418 or email at jd-muchmores@supernet.com

999 - WHERE ARE YOU? - One of the problems faced by the First Responders Team is the difficulty in locating an address in the dark.  Could we please ask all householders to look at the way your house name or number is displayed.  Ideally the name or number needs to be on the front of the property and clearly visible from the road - This would greatly help all the emergency services should you ever need them.

NOTICE TO ALL FOOTBALLERS AND PARENTS OF YOUNG FOOTBALLERS - Currently, the windows on the playing field side of our village hall are covered with the imprint marks of footballs.  In addition, so are the walls in places and there is evidence that damage to drainpipes and gutters are as a result of careless enthusiasm.  Some of these marks are directly behind the goal but the majority are outside that line of fire, indeed they are some distance away.  Repairs are costly and eventually, when someone breaks one (or more) of the double glazed windows, will become even more so.  The more we spend on repairs, the less we have to improve the facilities inside or out.  Please help us to preserve our village hall by treating it in a responsible manner whilst going about your leisure activities.  In anticipation, thank you for your help with this problem. Graham Bool, Chairman VHMC

MAKING POTHOLES HISTORY - Please report any potholes to the Clerk or telephone Highways Hotline on 0845 603 7631 there is a new pilot scheme taking place in Harlow and Braintree district to improve streets using the latest highway repair technolgy.
