President – Grace Wright

Vice Presidents – Messrs Juchnicki and Riley

The Society was founded in 1926 with the aim of encouraging the cultivation of flowers fruit and vegetables and stimulate interest in horticulture and related matters and is affiliated to:

The Royal Horticultural Society – The National Daffodil Society

The National Dahlia Society – The National Vegetable Society.

The Society runs a Trading Hut sited at the rear of Hawkwell Village Hall, open every Sunday morning from February to October between 1000 – 1200. Membership for 2018 is £3.00 per household.

The 'Hut' offers a range of fertilizers and general items such as: Quality Compost (75 litre bags), Growbags, Growmore, Bone Meal, Rose Feed, Lawn Feed, Bamboo Canes, Fleece, Bubble Wrap, Perlite, Vermiculite, Organic Fertilizer, etc. Plus advice from experienced gardeners and members excess plants at very reasonable prices.

The majority of our stock is sold in plain plastic bags and therefore represents extremely good value, compared to over packaged equivalents offered by the Garden Centres. We try but cannot always compete where smaller items are concerned – we hold a small supply for your convenience (hopefully saving you time and petrol).
