News - From Chairman
LAMBOURNE PARISH COUNCIL
Pancroft Playground
As reported in last months Link Up, the play area should be started this month. As I mentioned in that article, the District Council obtained a Lottery grant of £60,000 for each of 4 areas. The main reason we were one of the four was because of the detailed survey that we undertook and the great response that we got from you the residents. So on behalf of the young people may I thank you for responding the way you did.
London Road Speed Limit
The speed limit will change soon. From Gravel Lane roundabout the limit will be 40m.p.h. and not the national limit, that is until you reach the 30m.p.h. We were able to achieve this because the residents in London Road cottages joined forces with us to persuade the Highways Authority that it was needed.
Police Matters
It is very disappointing that very few of you attend the neighbourhood police meetings. These take place every 2 months; they only last for about 1 hour. It's your chance to hear what's going on and for you to say what you think in a very informal atmosphere. Don't moan and groan to each other, come and say it where it matters. The next meeting will be April 21st at 7.30pm at the Abridge Village Hall
Don't forget we now have a police office. The next time will be the 21st March 3pm-5pm when you have your chance to speak to our local officer in private.
Neighbourhood Watch
Once again a very disappointing response asking for volunteers. It's in everybody's interest to get this running again. What you have to do is quite easy and not very time consuming. If you want more information please phone me on 01992 812405. Ideally we want at least one person per road or to cover 20/30 houses.
Citizens Advice Bureau
the first 2 trial sessions were very well attended. The last of the trial run will be on the 9th March 10am - 2pm, Abridge Village Hall, so let's hope we can make this a regular thing. This is sponsored by your Parish Councils.
