Leaden Roding Church
Flower Festival, St Michael and All Angels
Thanks go to the Friends of St Michaels for their hard work at the SPRING FAYRE held at the village Hall on 24th May and, despite the rain, £674.38 was raised, so also a big thank you to all of you.
Time now to think of the annual FLOWER FESTIVAL to be held on 12th and 13th July at St Michaels and the theme this year is ‘’Colours of the world ’’ featuring ideas around flags of countries, costumes, aspects of nature and others, so please come along and view these lovely flower displays and see all the hard work ladies (mostly) put into them.
Help would still be appreciated for donations of cakes, raffle prizes and good quality bric-a-brac. The usual stalls will be there which include teas, light lunches, plants plus others. A BBQ during the lunch period, ice cream and a toilet will be available if you stay for a while.
The event will run from 11-30am to 5pm each day with the normal morning service on Sunday at 10am.
If you can lend a hand for a couple of hours please call David (876601)
Funds raised will go towards the general up keep of the church and the grounds. We are currently preparing to have the tower repaired as our dear woodpeckers have make holes, which other birds have enlarged, and consequently the tower is full of twigs. These have to be cleared and then the holes will be filled with new tiles and new wire mess, to cover the louvers at a cost of £6000, or the tower will fall into serious disrepair and bells will not be able to be chimed. So please take this one chance in the year when the church is open all weekend to view Leaden Roding’s Grade 2 listed heritage.
This year’s open area Songs of Praise at the village hall, with the Brass of St Marys, will be held on Sunday 17th August 3pm and lead by Rev. Clive Duxbury, South Rodings new (and down to earth) vicar.
Leaden Roding Village Hall Trustees news
We wish to inform all villagers that apart from the activated alarm within the hall, we now have CCTV covering the surrounding grounds, as extra protection for Leaden Roding Community Hall.
