Welcome to Maldon Carers Centre's official Website

Who is a Carer?

A CARER is any person who, without payment, looks after or has responsibility for a relative, friend or neighbour who is:-

  • Disabled - physically or mentally
  • Affected by illness
  • Elderly, infirm, or frail
  • Suffering from a speech, hearing, sight or learning difficulty
  • Addicted to drugs, alcohol or other substances
  • Unable to cope with life on their own.

Caring is given as an act of love, or kindness and many people looking after a loved one, friend or neighbour do not think of themselves as a carer

If someone is regularly dependent upon you for their needs, then you are a CARER.

The increased responsibility of a caring role can place a lot of strain on the Carer and just as importantly on their family. The last person to recognise this is often the Carer

Maldon Carers Centre may be able to help.
