MALDON CARERS CENTRE
PROVISION OF RESPITE CARE
We run a number of centres in the Maldon, Burnham on Crouch and Chelmsford areas which provide a few hours break by looking after your cared-for, either at our day centre at Maldon or at one of our outreach venues.
We will do all we can to ensure that the person for whom you care, which could be a parent, a husband or wife, a grand-parent, or a friend that you are concerned about, has an enjoyable day. Trained Care Assistants are available to provide a variety of activities such as quizzes or games, or even a sing-along and a Carer Support Worker can offer support to Carers.
Lunch will be included in the cost at our centres at Maldon, Althorne, Burnham on Crouch and Tollesbury. Starting in January 2008 light refreshments will be available at Great Baddow and Springfield.
At Maldon transport is available on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for those clients who live in Maldon or in close proximity to the town.
The centres provide clients with an opportunity to meet and socialise with other people in a similar situation, maybe reminisce about days gone by, or simply have a chat and a laugh. At the same time their carer will have an opportunity to have some precious time to call their own, or at least to know that Mum, Dad, Grannie or whoever it may be, is having a day out.

Maldon Carers is expanding and we have just started a new respite group which is based in Witham.
WITHAM
Spring Lodge Community Centre, Powers Hall End, Witham, Essex.
Every 2nd Wednesday of each month, for adults. 2.00 pm – 4.00 pm.
At this group and at the two groups based in Chelmsford carers may remain with their cared-for if they wish, or if their circumstances are appropriate, such as if the cared-for may become distressed or confused when without their carer.
