Swan Sign

Replacement Swan Sign on a snowy day Sign which was removed

The Swan Sign was removed from Crouch Street by Basildon Council in December 2010 due to safety concerns over the stability of the sign. The Parish Council has been successfully pledged a grant from Essex County Council Big Society towards the replacement of the sign and asked residents of Noak Bridge the preferred location of the Swan Sign.

A consultation was sent out in the August newsletter and 34 responses were received from the 1500 newsletters distributed the results received were 9 to sight the sign in the original location in Crouch Street and 25 to sight the sign in the new proposed new location in Wash Road.

It was resolved at the 5th October Parish Council meeting to erect the sign in the original location in Crouch Street, the Councillors read a summary of all comments received and the majority of Councillors voted to sight the sign in its original location.  The Council felt that as Noak Bridge is a conservation area then the sign should be replaced in the original location, the proposed new area was also outside of the conservation boundary.

The replacement Swan Sign was installed on the 18th January 2013.
