Councillor Norman Hume
Norman has been the County Council Member for South Woodham Ferrers since 2005, prior to that he was Member for South Woodham Ferrers and Danbury from 2001 - 2005. He has been the Cabinet member for Highways and Transportation since May 2007.
He has previously occupied a number of executive roles at Essex County Council, including Deputy Cabinet member for Environment, Deputy Cabinet member for Highways and Transportation, Chairman of Highways and Transportation Policy Development Group and Cabinet Member for Central Services covering Human Resources, Information Services, Procurement and Customer Access.
Outside of the County Council Norman represents ECC on the Regional Centres of Excellence for Procurement, Maldon Local Strategic Partnership and is a school Governor of Danbury Park School.
Norman's background is in the banking business, with over 30 years experience of international banking and financial management and is an Associate of The Chartered Institute of Bankers. On the social front Norman enjoys travel is a keen golfer and plays ‘’social squash’’. He is married to Veronica and they have 3 adult sons and one grand-daughter.
