Manor Square

Manor Square is a small area of Common Land adjacent to Chipping Ongar High Street. It is used for some community purposes and traditionally the High Street Christmas Tree is sited there.

For many years illegal and nuisance parking was a problem.  The Town Council has followed a plan agreed with local residents and businesses to  provide six planters that restrict unwanted parking and enhance the area.

Two of the planters were kindly sponsored by Ongar Rotary Club.  Inscribed plaques have been attached to the planters to acknowledge the Rotary Club and also to mark specific periods in the history of the former Parish and now Town Council.

The planters, along with the troughs attached to the railings, are planted up twice a year and are currently being watered by Council employees.  This year they were all planted up for the summer by members of the Ongar Allotment and Gardening Society.
