LITTER- We want to stop the rot

Litter is spoiling many of the most attractive areas in Ongar. Whether it is a dirty street or a lane disfigured by a dumped sofa the effect is the same - a place that could look clean and well cared for  is devalued and made potentially dangerous.

The Town Council has been reviewing its role in working with the Distict Council and Police to try to limit the amount of rubbish that is dropped, dumped or thrown away thoughtlessly.

We have a number of volunteers who help clear up in their own time and have organized "community litter picks" where up to 60 sacks of rubbish and assorted larger items are removed from public places.

We need to win this battle and if you can assist or have any ideas that might help we want to hear from you. Please try to get the message across that clearing up mess takes time and money that could be spent on much more useful projects.
