Demand Responsive Transport (DaRT)

Is an alternative way of providing access to key services in rural areas.  Instead of using fixed routes with fixed stops and times, DaRT customers book journeys in advance and are picked up from an agreed point.  It can be used to go shopping, attend a health appointment, get to/from work, school or college or to visit friends.

The service is managed by Arrow Taxis  and operates from 0600 to 2000, Monday to Saturday using 8-16 seater vehicles. Call 01621 874411 to book your journey, giving at least two hours' notice.  It is advisable to book your return journey at the same time.  As well as your name and telephone number and pick up point, Arrow Taxis will also need to know if you have any specific requirements, e.g. a wheelchair user, limited mobility, shopping trolley etc.

The service is free to concessionary pass holders after 0900 Monday to Friday and all day on Saturday.  Other users can pay on the bus or by debit/credit card over the phone.

Ridgewell falls into the DaRT 3 area so you can travel to any parish within that area (e.g. to Steeple Bumpstead in the west, Pentlow in the north or Colne Engaine in the south) or direct to Sudbury, Halstead and Haverhill town centres, Sudbury railway station and health facilities in Clare and Sible Hedingham and Community Hospitals in Sudbury and Halstead.
