Community Speed Watch

A group of volunteers carry out regular patrols to monitor the speed of vehicles driving through the 30 mph speed limit in the village.  Working in a small group of 2-3 volunteers, a speed gun is used to monitor traffic.  A note is made of those exceeding the speed limit and this information is passed to Essex Police who send a warning letter to the offending motorist.  The data is also used to track those drivers who consistently speed across the county.  A Police officer will join patrols when possible and, on such occasions, fixed penalty notices will be issued, where appropriate.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer or finding out more, please contact the Parish Clerk on 01440 785681.
