A girl of eleven, Laura Briscoe from Writtle who organised a charity walk on Sunday, 15 May managed to raise around £600 for her chosen charities.

Around 30 walkers and 10 dogs took part in an hour-long ramble around Beauchamp Roding near Ongar, which ended with refreshments and cakes at The Room in the Rodings.

Laura said: “I wanted to collect money for the RSPCA and the Dogs Trust because I love animals and want to be a vet when I grow up. Thank you to everyone who has donated and to my friends Sarah and Chloe for helping me with the event.”

Mum Mary added: “We’re really proud of Laura. She has been so excited in organising this event for the RSPCA and Dogs Trust.

Laura has not done anything like this before and has done so well. We want to thank all our friends and family who gave so generously and helped us raise this fantastic amount of money.”

Clive Vallis, RSPCA Mid Essex Branch Chairman presented Laura with a certificate and said: “Thanks to Laura for all of her hard work in support of RSPCA Mid Essex which is much appreciated.”
