Maureen Hindle, well known to Sandon WI members was Chair of the Patients Council at Broomfield Hospital for 12 Years.
This group all of whom are volunteers, works to represent patents and their needs to Management. They regularly meet with patients on the wards, ask whether they are happy with their treatment, and routinely determine the reasons for and attempt to resolve, any issues relating to their care.
They attend various meetings including Board meetings twice a year, as well as conducting surveys in A&E and Outpatients. The various findings of the Patients Council are collated and passed to respective departments in the hospital.
The Trust follows up on patients’ comments in an ongoing effort to improve patient service and satisfaction.
Following this extensive period of 12 years’ service, Maureen felt that it was time to stand down from this role, but will be still be involved at Broomfield as Patient Experience Lead.
Recently, a dinner was held to present awards and celebrate the outstanding contribution from various staff in the Trust, including Maureen. Her husband, Peter, was able to go with her to share in the occasion. Hence she was very surprised to receive an Oscar for the outstanding work she had done over 12 years as Chair of the Patients Council.
Her outstanding success ended with a standing ovation!
We too at Sandon WI share in her success and sincerely congratulate her on her work and achievement.
