The WI Centenary Baton began its travels in Anglesey and passed through every Federation eventually arriving in Suffolk on 25th November 2014, when it was handed over to Essex Federation on 26th November.

There was a marquee erected in Chelmsford city centre outside Marks and Spencer with display boards about the WI. Local WI members then processed with the Baton and placards to Chelmsford Cathedral singing Jerusalem as they went. They were met at the Cathedral by Lord Petre and the Mayor and Mayoress of Chelmsford.

Inside the Cathedral was an exhibition of 100 years of the WI in Essex up to the present day; Dorothy Gray from Sandon WI and others were there on hand to speak to members and visitors.
