SWCHS PTA and Friends, summer open air swimming pool club

We are very fortunate in this town to have access to this very pleasant full size heated outdoor pool.
The pool is located on the SWCHS site, behind the sports centre. It is available during the summer months.

To use the pool you must join 'SWCHS PTA and Friends' and pay a fee, each family must sign up to a rota to supervise the pool for up to 3 sessions
- a total of approx 6 hours, no qualifications are needed as qualified lifeguards are employed.
Members also have part time use of the tennis courts (ie when they are not hired out to paying sports centre customers or clubs).

The school maintains the pool and provides changing rooms for the use of the members.

The club is run as a charity, 'SWCHS PTA and Friends' with a committee running it's affairs.
We are currently actively looking for new committee members, if you think you could spare some time, please contact the club (email splash2008@me.com).

Lifeguards seeking summer employment, including any Co High Students aged 16 plus, should contact the club now.

Details of membership will be circulated via Parent Mail or school book bags mid April.

Applications for membership are welcomed from families attending a feeder primary school for SWCHS or pupil's of SWCHS.

Members must also agree to a list of rules, which are provided at the time of joining and are on this website - see 'Rules'.

Pool opens approx 20th June 2009 until 20th September 2009 (dates tbc).

Thanks also to all the lifeguards who also unfailingly turned up in all kinds of weather and kept us all safe.
We are indebted to the school for providing the facility and to the ground staff, especially the school caretaker, for the tireless work monitoring the pool water quality.

ABOUT THE POOL

The water temperature at a very comfortable 80 degrees, so the pool is useable even on a cool day.
There is car parking available at the front of the Sports Centre (lower school car park).
There are toilets and showers on site and pool side decking for those not swimming. Lane swimming is available in the evening during the school holidays.

The water quality is monitored daily, all season, by SWCHS ground staff.

Qualified lifeguards are on duty, these are usually SWCHS students. However, it is the parents responsibilty to watch their own children and to be dressed appropriately to enter the water to assist them.

MEMBERS USE THIS POOL AT THEIR OWN RISK.

Capacity -120 full memberships plus 15 summer only memberships - membership sold out early in 2009, so respond promptly to avoid disappointment.
