SPEED AND VOLUME SURVEY- CHURCH END SHALFORD.

A speed and volume survey was recent undertaken at the above location.
The speed survey was carried out approximately 366 metres from the junction with Braintree Road on 1 August 2007. The results are summarised below.
Southwest Bound 1 August 2007 85th%ile = 37.6 mph Mean Ave = 29.9 mph Northeast Bound 1 August 2007 85th%ile = 39.3mph Mean Ave = 33.0 mph
As you can see from the results, the 85th percentile speeds averaged between 37.6mph AND 39.3mph. The peak flows were travelling Southeast between 17:00 and 18:00 when there were 107 vehicles: The 85th%ile speed is an average as the top 15% of all speeds are not taken into account because we cannot legislate for those people who choose to ignore any speed limits. Please note that the speeds are slightly higher travelling Northeast Bound.
