Hub of the known universe! Well, maybe not, but hub of the delightful nearby ancient cities of Colchester and Chelmsford and the market town of Braintree, which is growing in size faster than any other in Europe, helping is the Freeport shopping complex.
Our village is nevertheless positioned away from all main roads which gives it a peace and tranquillity, yet within easy reach of the main A120 artery to Felixstowe and international airport of Stansted.
Nearby are the popular villages of Wethersfield, Finchingfield and Blackmore End

 
Shalford Primary School

With a rail link to London taking some 1 hour, on a good day. Shalford is a special place and those that live or have lived here understand the importance of "community" in the village

With a stable population of some 750 people and just under 250 homes, Shalford supports its own village school 

Codham Mill

The village itself sits comfortably in the river Pant Valley being mentioned in the Doomsday Book and its history and geography have been well commented on by various authors over the years. The village is therefore a popular route for ramblers, cyclists and a stopover for caravaners
