Harvest Supper on 20th October 2007

Around 80 people were treated to a lovely three-course meal and wine at the Harvest Supper held last Saturday evening, 20th October in our village hall. The Harvest Supper is a traditional annual community event to remind us all to give thanks for what we receive from the earth. Well done to Val, Gloria and their catering team who worked very hard and provided fantastic food and great service. They would have given any restaurant a run for their money! The hall looked great with the tables set out with lovely lace tableclothes, cutlery and wine glasses. Eileen Hanks prepared the lovely flower and holly arrangements, which gave the hall the right autumnal ambiance. After the meal, there was a presentation to Phil and Margaret Schneidau. The couple have been involved with the village hall for a great number of years and Phil has been Chairman and overseen the management for many years. To round off the evening, Claire Cadman from Essex Wildlife Trust gave a very interesting talk on wildlife issues and the projects she is working on to help ensure that wildlife is considered in future regeneration plans in Essex. Well done to Pauline, Katie and the Events committee for putting on a great, value for money event for us all to enjoy.
