Statement by Revd Margaret Davis and Carol Elkington Chair of Langley Parish Council
This is a copy of the signed statement of the agreement reached between Langley Parish Council, St John the Evangelist Church, Langley's Parochial Church Council and the Langley Community Centre Committee on Saturday April 1st 2017. All residents of Langley will receive a copy of this statement by 4th April.
"On Saturday April 1st a meeting was held in Langley Community Centre with the aim of reaching an agreement on the provision of new community facilities in Langley. The meeting was chaired by a representative from the Rural Community Council of Essex and in attendance were the chair of the Diocesan Advisory Committee, the Archdeacon of Stansted, the full Parochial Church Council of St John the Evangelist Church Langley, representatives from the Langley Community Centre Committee and representatives from Langley Parish Council.
We are pleased to advise you that agreement was reached that a 'Community Project', which would deliver upgraded facilities within the church and a new community/sports facility on the green is to be the approach in providing a range of community facilities to you all, both now and to our young people into the future.
There are of course still a number of issues to resolve and in due course there will be an exhibition to allow you to see exactly what will be developed in both centres thus giving you the opportunity to ask any questions you might have and to make suitable comment.
In the meantime we are delighted that we have been able to reach an agreement after so long and sincerely hope that this will now enable us to come together as a community and work towards an exciting future for our village."
Signed by Carol Elkington, Chair of Langley Parish Council and The Revd Margaret Davis, Vicar of St John the Evangelist Church and Chair of the Parochial Church Council.
