ST. MARY'S  "OPEN  DAY"

Was last held on a SUNDAY,

18th AUGUST 2013.

(Unfortunately there is no Fun Day in 2014 - The fields are still waterlogged from Spring rains)

Hundreds of people came again to our Annual "FUN DAY" in August at our sanctuary grounds just off Windsor Gardens in Hawkwell, Essex, behind Saint Mary's parish church.

We had lots of fun then and in each of our previous open days. Many brought things to sell and we hope that groups will come again next year and bring stands, games, handicrafts and products to sell.

Many of our horses took part and visitors saw our horses enjoying a happy life with us.

WE HOPE ALL ENJOYED THE DAY, PLEASE COME AGAIN AND HAVE A FUN DAY WITH US NEXTSUMMER  IN 2014 !

SAINT MARY'S HORSE REFUGE

St Mary's Horse Refuge is a registered charity located in Rochford, Essex. It is located about 6 miles from Southend on Sea. The charity's founder, Digby Saunders had been taking in horses and ponies in need of care for nearly 30 years with little help and no funding. By the early 2000s it was time to take action. So, that was when the horse refuge had to become a charity. It was established as a charity in 2003 and it was registered with The Charity Commission in 2004. The charity's aim is to keep those unwanted but loveable horses healthy, to provide them with homely conditions and give them a decent life that they can enjoy. St Mary's Horse Refuge provides living space, food, care, attention and loving affection to relieve the suffering of horses and ponies, some of whom may have been kept in poor conditions, are lonely, not ridden, some may have been neglected, a few ill-treated or mal-nourished, and many, mainly older souls are in need of medical care, but all for whatever reason needed a new home and new owners.

We willingly take in those horses and provide them with a peaceful, well fed and happy life in Hawkwell, Essex.

Our registered charity number is :  1101405.

Our other website is :

http://www.st-maryshorserefuge.co.uk/

This was our first website which we lost not long after it started. We had a second website which nobody could find and which failed to work. Then we started this free site from Essex County Council which has always worked well since 25 March 2008. Finally, we made a legal claim for recovery of the first website and eventually it was awarded back to us. We now keep both of the latter two sites working.
