UPDATE for November 2019

Now that the clocks have gone back (or forward if you made the mistake that a friend of mine did some years ago and arrived at work when the overight cleaners were still busy), it is time for the annual renewal - I hope - of your subscription to the 100 CLUB.

Over the coming weeks, one of the Volunteer Subscription Collectors will call on members with an invitation to renew.

One aspect of this is to invite both members and also non-members to put their details on to the waiting list should they wish to start a membership or to increase an existing holding.

In the situation of a non 100% membership renewal for 2020, those on the list will have first refusal on the available places.  Details are given below under WINNING NUMBERS.

Many residents will have seen that the white church steeple has been re-clad over the last few weeks, an activity that has really stretched the efforts of the PCC members (particularly the departing Treasurer, David Green) in obtaining the necessary funding for this work.

It may have been noted, however, that the illuminated cross on top of the steeple is still NOT illuminated.  The reason is that the LED lighting system failed to work properly some months ago and it was decided to delay repairs until the steeple cladding had been replaced.

The LED system is about to be replaced and should once again remind those who see the cross shining through the dark why it is there, particularly as we shall be remembering all those who gave their lives in the Great War (World War 1) at 11:00 on November 11th.

Anyone who welcomes the return of the cross to a working entity is invited to make a contribution towards the cost of its repair.  All donations will be gratefully received. Please post in an envelope clearly marked 'CROSS REPAIR' to the PCC Treasurer at Glebelands, Church Lane, Stow Maries, CM3 6SJ, either by hand or Royal Mail. Thank you.

I thank all members, both longstanding and recently-joined, for their support of the 100 CLUB and the full membership that has resulted for yet another year.  It is, of course, impossible for every member to have a winning number during the year but I do wish success to all of you in the monthly Draws.

Your support of the 100 CLUB is really important particularly as the Church Council (please note that this is not the same as the Parish Council) still has a long way to go before the rotten cladding on the steeple can be replaced with a more durable timber.

On behalf of the Parochial Church Council, may I thank everyone concerned in the membership renewal process - volunteer collectors and renewing members plus the one new member - for their support of this important contribution to the upkeep of the church fabric.

Certificates of Membership - Reminder

Certificates of Membership have been issued to all new members and those members who have increased their holdings but any member requiring a replacement certificate should contact me via the MAKING CONTACT link or on 828 302.

100 CLUB facts

The June 2016 Draw was the 250th since the 100 CLUB was formed in order to provide a steady contribution to PCC funds.  The next milestone worthy of note will be the 300th. Draw in 2020.

It is now more than 22 years since I started the 100 CLUB and, in that time, over £10,000 has been given to members as prizes with the annual membership remaining at 100% for the majority of that time.

It is appropriate, therefore, to record the gratitude of the PCC for the support of the members, many of whom joined the CLUB on its creation.

The 100 CLUB has to be licensed under the Lotteries Act. There are operating rules and any member wishing to receive a copy of the Rules should contact me.
