Myself Philip Clark (Chairman) and Vice Chairman completed a door to door excercise handing out free membership forms passing on news of our project to the 2,400 houses within the Bocking Elm ward, we were lucky enough to meet some fantastic and enthusiatic residents within the ward.
An amazing responce to the membership forms returned with over 30 residents wanting to be actively involved within the association. welcome letter delivered.
17th of February our first committee meeting held at CVST Clacton, presented by myself, with talks from Siggy Challinor our Conservative for Bocking Elm and Karen Tedder-Ward from the Community Voluntary Services Tendring. During this meeting we adopted the groups constitution, and elected the following members of the committee:
Philip Clark- Chairman
Brian Cole- Vice Chairman
Lesley Farmer- Treasurer
Xanthe Townsend- Volunteer co-ordinator
Margaret Carney- Secetary.
Thank you so so much to everyone that attended this meeting, at the end of the meeting EVERY single person volunteered to help within the project one way or another which is amazing.
Essex Community Computers
This is a project where Essex Council donate their computers which are in a great condition and give to community groups such as ours, we were granted 2 laptops and 2 pc's. The laptops are for public use by the residents. All internet activity will be monitored for everyones safety.
We have been given access to a small grant by Tendring Council so that the group can purchase promotional equipment for both the residents association and the youth club.
The Chairman and Mark Rodger from CHP attended a meeting with Colne Housing based in Colcheter who have residents in and around Bocking Elm ward who are willing to provide financial support in return for using our community centre.
Renerco/ Hall Farm Wind turbine Funding
March 5th was the deadline for funding grants to be submitted which we completed, I am aware the panel for this group meet on the 1st of April so fingers crossed we get approved.
I was asked to do an interview for the newspaper and the next day several of the committe members met for photographs so we hope the group will get some much needed publicity.
Finally i would like to say a massive thank you to the following people; Gill Burden Tendring District Council, Karen Tedder-ward CVST, Mark Rodger Chelmer Housing Partnership (CHP), Siggy Challinor and Andy Wood without their help this project would not have got this far.
