Car Park Reopening October 2009

County Councillor John Aldridge and Village Hall Management Committee chairman Gordon Hillyear reopening the newly resurfaced village hall car park on September 30th 2009. Borough Councillor Nicolette Chambers with other members of the committee look on.

Vintage vehicles on display at the 2009 Village Hall Garden Fete and Vintage Rally at Woodhall, Chignal Smealey. Many thanks to Norman and Beryl Wasteney for allowing us to use their beautiful garden again in 2009, and a big thank you to all those people who  supported this popular annual event.

Last year's Christmas coffee morning
 
Festive fund raiser at the village hall  
 
Many thanks to all those who came along to support both the whist drive and Christmas coffee and mince pies morning which were both held at the hall. As you know the proceeds from these events go towards the never decreasing cost of maintaining and upgrading the village hall.

  A Barn Dance took place on Saturday 20th September. This was greatly enjoyed with much fun being had in trying to follow the instructions for the various dances. A welcome break came halfway through when we all sat down to a tasty BBQ followed by some delicious desserts. A big thank you goes to the caller (who kept everyone in order) and to those committee members who attended, for making the evening a success with £82 going to the funds.
The Whist Drive held on Friday 3rd October was very well supported with 36 playing. An enjoyable and competitive evening with tea, cakes and a raffle producing £130 towards the village hall's funds. A big thank you to those who attended.

  The Village Hall is administered by a management committee who organise and run fund raising events during the year.  It is the meeting place for local clubs and organisations.   Please contact secretary Cherry Scott on 01245 441241 for further information.
