The plan for managing your coast is being updated, and from 15 March to 18 June you can find out about the new draft plan and make your comments.
The team will be on hand to answer your questions at the following drop-in events:
30th March - Baptist Hall, High Street, Burnham on Crouch - 2.00pm - 7.30pm
19th April - Tollesbury Community Centre, East Street, Tollesbury - 2pm - 7.30pm
24th April - Village Hall, Hullbridge Road, South Woodham Ferrers - 9.30am - 12.45pm
27th April - Bewick Suite at the Swan Hotel, High Street, Maldon - 2pm - 7.30pm

From 15 March you will be able to see the draft plans at www.environment-agency.gov.uk/research/planning/105014 where there is a comment form. You can also view it at Council offices and in libraries in coastal towns.

The Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act 2005
The Dog control Orders (Prescribed Offences and Penalties) Regulations 2006
Notice is hereby given that on the 18th December 2008 the District council of Maldon has made a dog control order pursuant to its powers under the Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act 2005.
The order will come into force on the 5th January 2009.
Fouling of Land by Dogs (District of Maldon) Order 2008
This Order will apply to all land which is within the administrative area of the District of Maldon and which is-
(i) Open to the air, including covered land which is open to the air on at least one side, and to which the public are entitled or permitted to have access with or without payment.
if a dog defecates at any time on land to which this order applies and a person who is in charge of the dog at that time fails to remove the faeces from the land forthwith, that person shall be guilty of an offence unless:-
a) He has a reasonable excuse for failing to do so; or
b) The owner occupier or other person or authority having control of the land has consented (generally or specifically) to his failing to do so.
There will be exemptions for blind people with guide dogs and disabled people using trained assistance dogs.
Fixed Penalty Notices
The District Council of Maldon intends to issue fixed penalty notices to enforce the proposed dog control order as prescribed by Section 59 of the Clean Neighbourhood and Environments Act 2005. The payment will be £80, failure to pay may result in prosecution.

A copy of the order and a map showing the area effected by the Fouling of Land by Dogs (District of Maldon) Order 2008 is available free of charge on the Council's website www.maldon.gov.ukor in hard copy upon request at the Offices of Maldon District Council, Princes Road, Maldon, Essex CM9 5DL between the hours of 9.00am and 4.30pm from Monday to Friday
