Countryside & Coast Team help raise over £1800 for Farleigh Hospice

The Council’s Countryside & Coast Team were proud to support Farleigh Hospice’s Event 2018 between 7th - 9th of January.

Christmas Tree Recycling

The campaign which ran across Chelmsford, Maldon and Burnham rose over £20,000 and collected in excess of 2100 trees. Over 400 trees were collected in the Maldon District which raised £3600.

In Maldon, Heybridge Swifts Football Club collected the trees which were chipped and disposed of by the Countryside & Coast Team. In Burnham-on-Crouch, Burnham Rugby Club collected the trees and The Limes Farm Shop chipped and disposed of them.

Debbie de Boltz, Fundraising Manager, Farleigh Hospice wrote to Maldon District Council’s Countryside & Coast Manager Matt Wilson to thank his team for all their hard work. Debbie de Boltz said “We are thrilled that so many of the community took part in our recycling scheme. The money raised will go towards caring for people with life-limiting illnesses, and the recycled trees help the environment, so it’s a win-win!  We’d particularly like to thank all the local businesses and volunteers who gave up their weekend and put in a lot of hard work.”

Richard Holmes Director of Customers & Community said “We are proud to support Farleigh Hospice’s campaign. Farleigh Hospice does amazing work and really makes a difference to people with life-limiting illnesses. The Countryside & Coast Team worked hard all weekend, alongside Heybridge Swifts Football Club, collecting, chipping and disposing of the Christmas trees in exchange for donations.”
