“It has been decided by our committee that all allotment holders should be given a membership to the allotment society free of any charge. This membership will entitle you to use the trading hut to take advantage of our very competitive prices of fertilizers, composts and other products. As a member you can obtain discounts from several local businesses. The allotment society organise various trips and talks throughout the year which you can take advantage of if you so wish. All we ask is that you call by the trading hut and collect a membership card and allow us to contact you by email or letter with information and news of the society activities.
The Council has two allotment areas - Oxney Green and The Chase. Plots are currently available.
Allotment Rents for 1 October 2019 - 30 September 2020 are £30.00 per full plot, £15 per half plot and £18.00 concessions on a full plot and £9.00 on a half plot. Concessionary rates are for over 65.

Writtle Garden and Allotment Society
Writtle Garden and Allotment Society’s main object is to organise two shows each year, the summer one is at the beginning of July and the autumn show at the beginning of September. Each show has classes for vegetables, fruits, cut flowers, pot plants, flower arrangements, jams, baking, handicrafts, photography and children’s classes.
Something for everyone!
The society also organises visits to gardens both locally and further afield and talks in the evenings.
There is a hut at the Victoria Road allotments which is open on Sunday mornings from 10:00 to 12:00 where members can buy pots, fertilisers, canes etc. and each winter they can order seed at very competitive prices.
The cost of membership is modest and we would urge villagers to join to help fund the shows which always are expensive to run and we set the entrance fee a modest level in order not to put off any visitors. It is not necessary to belong to the society in order to enter the shows.
