MINUTES OF PLAYING FIELD COMMITTEE MEETING

HELD ON TUESDAY 5th AUGUST 2008

AT ROOM 4 LONGMEADS @ 7.30 pm.

2          MINUTES OF MEETING HELD ON 3.06.08

            Minutes approved

 

3          MATTERS ARISING

3.1        Bench in Paradise Road play area which was vandalised to be firmly fixed to ground.  Ask Mr. Jarvis. Agreed CCTV might help.

3.2.       PCSO's be requested to attend meetings.

3.3.       Youth Club.  3 people only attend youth club. CH and RB to meet Headmistress to discuss matters in September and funding.  Explorers and Rangers Group to meet on Mondays (14-18year olds).

3.4.       Oxney Play Area. Discussed vandalism and new equipment.  Slide and Swings to remain. 

3.5.       Hard Play Area fees discussed and agreed to rise at least 3% and rounded to the nearest £.  Also to be in line with CBC fees and reviewed annually.  Notify Anne Lockhart.  Condition of Astro Turf to be monitored.

 

4.         MATTERS TO BE RAISED BY AND WITH SCOUTS

4.1.       Mr. Rawlins said still awaiting draft lease and scouts holding over lease re old scout hut.  Advised new draft lease being sent by WPC Solicitors and we target completion mid September 08. i.e. before next quarter day.  Agreed proper disabled parking places needed outside scouts hut . Service charge and bio-disc also discussed.  Messrs. Rawlins & King left at 8.15pm.

 

5.         MATTERS DISCUSSED BY AND WITH WRITTLE SPORTS AND SOCIAL CLUB

5.1.       Mr. Becket only representative of WSSC attending. Drainage discussed re sports area and agreed position of drainage piping be discussed with Mr. Peter Day who knows position of pipes although there is no map of drainage facilities.  J.D. to follow up with P.D.

 

6.         WSSC FIVE YEAR PLAN

6.1.         Agreed five year plan be discussed more fully at next meeting.

 

7.         PLEASURE BIT PLAYGROUND REVAMP

7.1.       LB  says another Grant available with closing date Jan.09.  Will follow up.  CH emphasised  advisable to obtain Grant before starting improvements.  Any Grants re local Junior School does not cover full cost of revamp.

7.2.       Agreed that spreadsheet of Grants and Providers with timings needs to be prepared re funding for all sports and Play Areas.

 

8.         PLAYGROUND VANDALISM

            See above

 

9.         OTHER REPORTS

CH advised this Committee needs to meet 4 times a year. WSSC meet on the last Tuesday and first Thursday each month.  These dates should be avoided.  Our Meeting   to commence at 7.30pm and avoiding Tuesday.
