Archive Group
The archives, held in the Heritage Room, are managed by the Archive Group and include information on the history of St Michael’s Church, the Napoleonic defences, the racecourse and golf course and information on many local families and events that have happened in the village.
There is a vast photographic archive, much of which can be searched on computer. Transcriptions of St Michael’s parish records are also searchable.
Enquiries are welcome and help is available. Visit our archive groups website to find information not only on Galleywood war casualties but also brief items of local history to illustrate the contents of our archives. Please note that Walk & Talk events, booked by groups to learn about the Common, are also available to individuals who would like to join these groups.

The Heritage Room is open to visitors on Tuesdays 1.30 - 3.30pm and most Sundays 11.00am -1.00pm and at other times by prior arrangement. Contact Wendy at wendy.gf@blueyonder.co.uk for further details.
The dedication of this memorial took place on Sunday 16th May 2010 at the Keene Hall. Brief stories of all 43 casualties recorded on the memorial can be viewed at the Galleywood Heritage Centre - Heritage Room by prior appointment.
