Tower Restoration Appeal

Chaired by Judith Little (01255 813645), the group is looking for innovative ways of raising funds to repair and safeguard this important landmark.

The pre-Tudor structure (dating from the early 1400's) has survived almost SIX Centuries - however is now starting to show its age.

A new roof is urgently required and together with repairs to the brick work, repairs have been estimated to cost £100,000.  The hope is to attract funding from national charities, however the action committee is keen that the Village has an opportunity to play its part.

Detailed information on the appeal and the required works is available on display boards inside All Saints, Church Lane, Great Holland.

Recipe Book  - Karen Withams makes an 'A-Peel' for help :

I am compiling a book of recipes - celebrating inventive, tasty and convenient recipes from people living in and around Great Holland.

The intention is to create a range of dishes and snacks which will be both interesting to try and will serve to be a great point of reference in the future.

The book will go on sale in 2010 and all the profits will go to The Church Tower Restoration Fund.

Of course this will only be possible if sufficient contributions are received to make the project viable - and that's where YOU come in !

Favourite Family recipes
Cheats & tips for creating great results
Personal variations to classical dishes
Hors d'euvre, Soups, Fish, Entree, Main course, Deserts, Sweets, Biscuits, Cakes, Snacks, Drinks, Cocktails, the list is endless

Please send your recipes in any format you prefer to one of the contact addresses below :  and remember - if you don't, the book will be full of Paul's idea of exotic foods (such as his own cold Baked Bean and Tuna Sandwiches ! )

Some Important Don'ts :
Don't assume that others won't be interested in your recipe
Don't put it off to tomorrow - you know you'll only get distracted
Don't worry about presenting it neatly
Don't allow your inaction to lead to Paul's sandwich making it into print
